So disappointed - twice

I was so excited to order/receive a giraffe rocking horse with wheels as a birthday present for my 1 year old. I read online that it comes in two pieces, a plush top and a wobble wheel bottom. Before I bought it, I noticed that there were a few negative reviews, all saying the same thing: the wood used is VERY soft, which can cause splitting when the two pieces are put together, and that sometimes they don't drill. Holes so the top and bottom match. As a result, it is impossible to collect it. I took a chance and when I got the first one I opened it up to find it had TWO holes drilled in the top. One of the hole sets was aligned with the bottom holes, but because the aligned hole appeared to be VERY close to the edge of the wood - I have this picture - the wood broke as soon as I tried to twist it together. I was so excited I could barely turn the screw! The screw was 1/4 inch! I definitely didn't twist it too tight to cause a split. So we ordered a replacement and crossed our fingers. The replacement arrived and only one set of holes were drilled in the top, but they didn't match the bottom at all. If you even try to twist one side, the drilled hole at the bottom will be INCHES from the wood at the top. As stated in some of the negative reviews, it was literally impossible to assemble. I was really considering doing it on my third try - I can't tell you how GORGEOUS the top is and how it would be such an amazing rocker. if it could be put together - but I can't bring myself to do it. I totally missed the mark by giving it to my son for his 1st birthday (that day has already passed) and I think I'd rather buy another brand and not risk it. The whole experience was frankly heartbreaking. But if you decide to take a chance and get a top and bottom that align and won't fall apart when reassembled, I'm sure you'll have an absolutely beautiful rocker.
