I have a collection of travel mugs and none of them meet my expectations. I really wanted a stainless steel mug inside because plastic can leach into liquids, especially when they're hot. Stainless steel is also resistant to coffee stains. I like my coffee hot and I usually warm it up by putting the lid on while I drink it. I really wish it was insulated enough to say it's hot when I'm not drinking it. This one really delivers. I tested it by pouring hot water from a coffee maker at 168 degrees. An hour later it was still very hot 152 degrees. After 2 hours, the temperature reached 137 degrees, indicating that I like to drink it. What really struck me was that the outside of the mug was completely cool. The lid was warm, but not on the sides. One problem I have with other mugs is that they can leak at the top if they're not sealed properly (or sometimes if they appear to be tightly sealed). This one is truly airtight thanks to the screw design and silicone seal. With the drinking part closed, I turned it upside down and not a drop. I no longer have coffee stains on my shirt. The only thing I'm not very happy with is the lid of the "Spill Cup". It's a personal preference, and the fact that it's completely leak-proof makes it an afterthought. I have already ordered one for my wife and am throwing away the old ones. This is the guard.
