I had a Jansport in college a few years ago. The material was essentially denim and the bag was virtually indestructible. I gave it to my son when he started high school and he managed to damage it but managed to break the anvil. The material of this bag is thin, which is not a problem. It's just different than the old Jansport I had in college. I have two problems with this bag. First, there are valves that close most zippers. I'm guessing they're cosmetic because they serve no purpose other than preventing someone from opening a bag in a crowd while it's on the wearer's back. You have to lift the flap to open the zipper, which annoys me a bit. Also, due to the thin, soft material, the bag falls forward when placed on a flat surface. This is not unique to this bag. I'm pretty sure most do. Whatever you put in one of the pockets, the pocket will shift forward and try to fall on the front. It would be cool if they made a bag with a hard bottom that wouldn't fall off.
