Unique, smart, artistic design, solid construction but with some issues

I really wanted to love this branch hanger. I like hanging things on the wall that not only do their job but also look like art in their own right. I love to fill my home with unique things that not everyone has. Glad to find them as it's winter here and we bought lots of hats, scarves, mittens/gloves etc. While it can technically match a coat (I've tried and can confirm it works), I bought two of these specifically to deal with the "little bit" of outerwear in our front door entry. - You can combine multiple pieces into one long branch (although that's easier said than done) Good Features: - HEAVY POWER! Each weighs very little (solid steel) and you don't have to worry about them bending or breaking! - Nice. modern, chic, artistic in itself! I bought two and pinned them together vertically and I love how they look by themselves on the wall which is important to me because I don't have to worry about them looking awkward in the spring and summer when there are no mittens and hats are. depend on it. Not so good: - Does not come with hanging hardware or instructions! I hate that! Who sells a wall hanger and does NOT include a hanging device and/or instructions! I mean hanging is a bit intuitive but at least they can suggest what size screw or nail to buy that is compatible or optimal for that particular hook. I ended up using nails. It's difficult to hang straight, and even more difficult to hang multiple branches together and align them perfectly. And by difficult I mean it requires some luck or black magic. Maybe both. I'm very lucky and it's still not perfect. I decided to use nails in the top two holes and then attach the command bar to the bottom and attach it to the wall that way (knowing that the nail on top would be enough to hold the weight of anything I put on it and the command strip was just there to hold it in place). I honestly think it would be almost impossible to hang several of these together in a straight line with screws or nails in all 4 holes. Also remember that if you are hanging multiple pieces vertically, you must hang them from the bottom up rather than the top down as you will need to put a screw or nail head in the hole and then slide it down. If you start at the top, you can't slide under it and the two pieces will touch. It's probably confusing - it's hard to describe, but just TRUST ME. Start with the lowest FIRST. Came with some strange dents/paint spots. I have grey. Notice the colorless patch of paint in my photo. After doing my best hanging them up and then putting my hats on top, I was frustrated to find that they cover the whole thing pretty well and it looks a little odd and awkward. If you buy this I highly recommend using it for keys and other small items that don't cover it completely because what's the point of buying that more expensive/fancy hook if it just covers it up? I find the branches sticking out from the main branch could stand a bit longer. Some of them are so short that they are of no use. All in all I think it's a nice touch and not dissatisfied but the price and hassle of hanging it doesn't match the hardware and for the purpose I wanted it for I'm not in love. I'll leave it and hopefully find a better use for it (like keys). As long as you know what it is and isn't, I hope you won't be disappointed. Clever design and idea, not great execution. Also, I saw this at my local container store and it was $2 off. Hope this helps someone else! I did NOT receive this item for free or at a discount.
