They are very transparent. Dark gray no, but lighter colors yes. They go perfectly under skirts but my daughter got very upset when I told her she can only wear them to school if she wears a skirt over them. I see a pattern on her underwear. They're smooth on her, but not that they're very tight. Although she likes to wear them at home. I tried changing height and weight. She weighs 45-50 pounds and is about 3-3 1/2 feet tall.
