This remote works straight away (after putting batteries in) but I didn't think of it at first. That's because I'm used to the original TV remote control. The remote control that came with my TV uses radio frequencies and the motion controller controls the pointer on the screen. This is an IR and has no pointer controls. You have to point it at the bottom of the TV for it to work. You'll also have to rely more on the directional controls since there's no pointer here, and you'll need to make sure you're clicking exactly where you want to click on the controller. If you're a little crazy, it will feel and sound wrong and go in the wrong direction. You also need to set up a different button configuration than the OEM remote.
