Because I bought this crib skirt for my granddaughter's first full bed, I washed it the next morning in cold water on a gentle cycle with fabric softener. I just hung it to dry so it wouldn't shrink, although the instructions say it can be tumble dried on a low setting. The bed's petticoat had shrunk a few inches and I couldn't stretch it out while I was still wet. On the other hand, the overskirt had some serious creases and Revane said they would refund me in full. The manufacturer could not prewash and iron the fabric before manufacturing. Don't buy it unless you're looking for a 14 inch loft bed skirt that's full of pleats and looks more shabby than romantic. The cotton fabric that makes up this bed skirt is more like a thin muslin, and although it's a split batten, there are extra patches of fabric at the corners. Petticoat and bottom are made of nylon, which should not be ironed or steamed.
