This is a duvet cover that you can put a duvet (or any other duvet) inside and use as a throw. We did, but North Carolina was too hot for the extra warmth in the fall. There are straps inside the duvet cover that can be attached to the comforter/duvet IF your duvet has them. We didn't have that, so I tried wrapping them around the corners with a weird knot. It worked and the duvet stayed in place, but I found it uncomfortable. At one point I realized that I had tucked the duvet inside the duvet the wrong way around, so my long end of the duvet ended up on the shorter end of the duvet. I was like, "Do I really want to untie those threads I just tied into this thing?" Like I said, it was too hot anyway, so we pulled it out. (When it gets colder, next time I'll be a little wiser and use a tape measure on the duvet and duvet to save time.) The weight without the duvet inside is still good. It's not very heavy, but heavy enough that we didn't feel like we were just sleeping under a sheet. And it's really beautiful. The fabric has a subtle sheen and feel. It's very luxurious. I usually buy things to complement the decor but this was a bit different. I really fell in love with the pattern and the colors. Now I'm trying to look around my house, looking at my tapestries and paintings to try and find the best ones for our bedroom. I think every now and then something happens that just makes you happy.
