These shorts are comfortable. They seem to be well made. The Velcro style closure on the back pocket is very sticky. If you are taking something in and out of that pocket, you may get annoyed. It almost feels that the hook and loop closure is stronger than the lightweight material it is adhered to. The front pockets are good and deep. You can put a large phone in it with no issues. The mesh lining is soft and does not cause chafing. It is in a short style not brief style. The tie waist closure allows you to loosen or tighten as you need. The only issue I had was with wearing it through the day the tie slipped and loosened on me and then my shorts slipped and sagged. It was not a huge issue, more a minor inconvenience. These are a comfortable pair of shorts to wear with good pockets.
