Review on Hibiclens Antiseptic Antimicrobial Skin Cleanser by Monica West

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Effective but can cause permanent eye damage.

I used Hibiclens when I had an active Staph Skin Infection (MRSA). Hibiclens, in addition to the 10-minute whitening baths, gave me peace of mind that I can disinfect myself and not risk spreading the infection to others. Please read the instructions very carefully! This product can cause PERMANENT eye damage if gets in eyes and is not washed off immediately. It is not intended for long-term use on large areas of the body. After the infection responded to treatment (cleansing, then oral antibiotics, Bactrim and clindamycin concomitantly) and no liquid was left, I switched from Hibiclens to regular antibacterial liquid hand soap found at the grocery store. These products contain benzalkonium chloride, which has been shown to be effective against MRSA. Hibiclens is a highly potent product, but it contains powerful active ingredients and should be used with caution.
