Review on AJA HELO H 264 Streamer Recorder by Julie Braaten

Great device! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for great quality up to 1080p 60fps for streaming to YouTube or other CDNs. The web interface is easily customizable for intermediate and advanced users. Excellent range of functions. It is very easy for end users to start/stop streaming without requiring a lot of knowledge about streaming details, codecs, etc. Just press the stream button when it turns green and you're online (starts flashing while streaming)! uses OBS to stream videos for our events on a high-end i7 desktop (great experience in this area). The difference in the quality of this AJA HELO is simply overwhelming. Smooth video, excellent color quality, clarity, excellent lip sync, reliability and versatility. Also, it's great that AJA HELO loads so quickly and you don't have to be bothered with those software/hardware issues that seem to be stalking you! I was very impressed with the support team when I called to ask a question. They were very helpful. One thing to note, especially if you're streaming at 1080p 60fps: the device can effectively calculate 60fps at 1080p overall, including recording and streaming. So if you're recording/streaming at that frame size/rate, make sure you're pointing at the entry. Use the same codec as what you are streaming. Another note: the SDI output from the device is pass-through, meaning there is no loss of quality. The HDMI output is a processed signal, which means the quality isn't as good as that included. The HDMI output also seems to be a secondary process for the device (hope sometimes). I connected an HDMI monitor to check the signal but the quality streaming to YouTube is better. It looks like the HDMI output is only there to make sure the device gets a signal. I wouldn't use it for anything the public will see during production.
