You get what you pay for. It's not a very high quality car. It's mostly plastic. Recently 2 hinges holding the main cover to open over the paper tray broke. This is not the part that attaches to the glass bed, which is more commonly used. I almost never open the bottom of the lid unless I change the toner every few months. One day I heard a loud "click" and looked around to see that the lid was slightly off balance. The loop broke on its own. A week later I went to another. The only thing holding it up is the wiring harness. I'm sure the repair will cost more than the car is worth. It has some annoying features right from the start. If you stop the fax midway, it will insist on printing the wrong fax. Each side performs a double operation regardless of whether it is double-sided or not. I stopped buying Canon cartridges. Revain sells compatible devices for 1/3 the price and they're just as good. If the return is slightly lower, it is still a trade. I will continue to use it until it finally fails. These loops are not that important. I think they shouldn't have broken on their own. Update: Just sold it for $40. I was about to take it to the landfill. The need for a fax machine is now almost zero. Online fax numbers can be purchased every month for a very small amount. Don't print faxes you don't need.
