While clearing snow from a sloping road, I fell off while standing still. I ordered these based on previous reviews, not for mountaineering or cross country skiing but for use around town in icy conditions and for snowshoeing icy trails when snowshoes are not needed. It is not possible to use one size for tennis shoes, hiking shoes and insulated winter boots. They match my hiking boots perfectly, they are easy to put on and take off, they center well on the sole of the shoe and stay in place during use. They seem sturdy enough to withstand prolonged use, but the grip on ice is so good that every winter I'm willing to buy a pair if the need arises.
