Hiding key functions under multifunction keys is a big mistake. Installed and forgot I need this. It wasn't.

I bought this to replace my current $5 alarm clock and figured it was time to move on to something more useful. I like it but I have a complaint with the manufacturer for the lack of detailed instructions. Pros: The construction and detailing is really good on this model, and it's positioned so almost everything is up front and accessible to the user. Nice little device.* The sound is decent and actually quite acceptable for the $30+ price point. I've listed about 8 or 9 different tracks that I'm really familiar with and the playback is good but a bit high-pitched or "tinny". The bass is surprisingly bumpy and more than offsets the effect, but it's noticeable. * Easily plays music from USB and my Alexa is plugged into the back. It actually sounds like a female voice now. FYI: Any Bluetooth to Alexa pairing with this device must be done in the Alexa app! Nice touch as it eliminates a few steps to set up two. Cons: No detailed instructions! When offering a product that uses multiple buttons for multiple functions, you need to be a little more descriptive and specific to access some of the device's features. I also see this "DOL" flashing on the screen several times and it's not mentioned in the manual at all. It never seemed to set properly, even though I followed the letter-by-letter instructions and assigned a specific wake-up station. Almost every device that requires a charged battery comes with a compatible charger. This guy doesn't, which confuses me. The USB cable can not replace the power adapter, soooo. * A remote control would be awesome! Final Thoughts: Life is tough enough and if you're one of those people who doesn't have time to mess around or are technologically illiterate, this might not be for you. I build my own computers so I'm familiar with UI layouts and interfaces, but mapping device buttons means you have to tape your instructions to the bottom of the speaker as they'll be executed mindlessly. It would be easier to just add another button on each page and dedicate those functions to them. It's great technology and does the job well, but some of its features need to be split for ease of use. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to spice up a boring life and wake up in the morning. This little buddy will bring you tons of fun while you're just trying to figure things out.

Pros
  • Looking forward to
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
