Review on πŸ”§ Dorman 902-322 HVAC Blend Door Repair Kit for Dodge - Enhancing HVAC Blend Door Functionality by Eric Pavelko

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works fine - engine cooling and air conditioning

Worked great on my 2004 Dodge Ram that had a mode 1 door failure, but I couldn't select the floor or windshield vents. The door is plastic but appears to be slightly stronger than the original door that was replaced. The stop pin is metal and looks much better than the replaced one (the original OEM plastic pin broke causing my car to fail). The instructions that came with the door are a bit imprecise (check the website for the exact instructions that came with this door). I would not have been able to properly diagnose and complete this repair without the help of the Youtube videos that exist for this issue. In short, the repair consists in unscrewing several dozen screws and removing 4-5 parts of the dashboard. The plastic air duct is then cut out with a Dremel or similar tool using the template provided in the instructions - cut out both the outer part of the air duct and the unusable plastic spacer. The old door is removed (pull out the old white plastic pin with pliers) and the new door installed. The removed portion of the interior separator is thrown away - it is for future car improvements only and serves no real purpose. The outer part of the duct is reattached using the metal tape provided. I usually take my cars to a mechanic for repairs, so I'm not particularly inclined to repair the car myself. In this case, I couldn't justify the cost of having the problem professionally repaired. I would rate the difficulty of this setup at 4 out of 10. Allow 1-2 hours to complete the job.
