Damaged product in undamaged packaging

I'm a bit disappointed with this review. I would like to give it a higher rating (it looks really nice and fits the size I expected) but despite the fact that it came in a box that wasn't damaged at all, three of the posts were broken and one was bent. Bought this at the last minute to get the boys room ready before we have another baby and didn't have time to deal with returns. I'm pretty good with glue and tape so I inspected each post, glued and pressure tacked and it worked. However, I would definitely not pay that price for a damaged item. It would not have been possible to assemble it and put it safely in the children's room without glue and tape.
