DOYO Controller Mount: $21.99 at time of review Lately I've been looking for something to tidy up my entertainment center. I usually just drop my controllers and headset on the surface, but when I do I get complaints about the clutter in the room. This controller stand from Doyo seemed like a great solution. Read on to find out why I like it, despite my initial qualms about having to build it. The packaging for this stand is a simple cardboard box. At this price point and given that you have to assemble it (so you definitely don't show it in the box) I think it's fine. There was also enough packaging material to protect the parts during shipping. All in all, this is a good package. The two halves of the stand are black powder-coated aluminum and are attached with five plastic tubes recessed into the screw holes (this is important as I find it makes assembly a lot easier). Assembly instructions are included with the kit and I've looked through them, but to be honest they're not really needed. In fact, I found my build method better than your suggestion. The instructions recommend loosely screwing in all five plastic tubes on either side so the stand is somewhat assembled but wonky, and then tightening the screws to complete the assembly. However, since the tubes are shaped to sink into metal standoffs, I figured it would be best to just screw them in on one side and tighten. Then attach the other side (all five tubes should be recessed slightly to hold them in place) and insert/tighten each screw on the other side. Using this method, it took me less than 5 minutes to assemble it. Although the base of the stand is a bit wide (which makes it stable), I really like the look. The controllers and headset look fantastic on it (see photo) and stay in place thanks to the rubber coating. The only thing I want to change is the color of the screws. This particular version came with bare steel screws. I would really prefer black to match the powder coating, but that's just personal preference and nothing against it. The last thing I will talk about is the price. At first I was a little confused that it didn't come assembled. But after a quick search on Revain I couldn't find many of them. On top of that, most other coasters in this price range are made of plastic and look gaudy. So overall I think the price is good. -------------*Good*: Excellent appearance. Easy construction. Good price. Basically a metal body. *Bad Sides*: You have to put it together. * Verdict: * I really like this controller holder from Doyo. It really makes my entertainment console less cluttered. Five stars out of five for build quality and looks. I would order this again.
