This is my first experience with crystal glasses. My family is pretty picky about glassware and no one drinks wine on a regular basis. So far, whenever the available stock was too low due to a breakdown, I always took a new set of inexpensive wine glasses with me. I didn't pay attention if they were for white wine, red wine or whatever (actually I didn't know the difference until I read about it before ordering them). So I have a strange collection of different sizes, types and styles. However, this year I bought new crockery and linens for the holidays and I wanted nice wine glasses. I was happy to test these glasses from Mikasa. I know the brand and their reputation for quality very well and have been a customer for many years (I have many items from their Christmas collection). These glasses weigh 13.5 ounces and are quite large but well balanced. They are surprisingly light and the glass is very thin (obviously this is one of the advantages of crystal glasses - they can be very thin without becoming too brittle). They are beautiful and I think the thin stripes add an elegant touch. They are bell-shaped with a thin stem and a base that appears wide enough that they cannot tip over too easily. They may not actually be fragile, but they feel fragile, so I plan on only taking them on holidays or special occasions. I know they won't last very long if put away with other glassware so they need to be stored. I have a small kitchen so there isn't much space. They'll take up quite a bit of storage space, whether in or out of the box, so it might come in handy for those thinking about buying these glasses. The glasses arrived in a sturdy box very well protected against breakage, but this box is not intended for gifts and is too big to fit on the top shelf of my closet. Each jar had a black sticker on the base. Sometimes these stickers can be difficult to remove, but luckily they peel off easily. There is also a logo embossed on the base, which may not matter to someone, but I do not mind. The current price of β¬44.99 for a set of four glasses seems expensive at first glance, but given the quality of workmanship and materials, as well as the reputation of this brand, I think this is a very reasonable price for such a beautiful glass.
