So my mic is either damaged or of fairly poor quality

I received it a few days ago so not sure about durability or sound quality yet. The cable definitely feels very strong and durable, at least more so than soft headphone cables. It doesn't have the power I was hoping for, but it's still pretty decent bass. I'm not sure if this is unique to mine, but when I use his mic on calls I'm told that I sound muffled or far away, so my mic is either damaged or of fairly poor quality.
