Review on AmScope MU1003 CK Digital Microscope Calibration by Jarrod Zuvers

I have used the AmScope MU1003 with an Olympus compound photomicroscope and with an AmScope stereomicroscope. With the compound sight, the MU1003 delivered images with good field uniformity and good sharpness. The 0.5x transition lens reduced the overall magnification so that the images approximated what was seen through the eyepiece. Unfortunately, the adapter lens cannot be adjusted so that the camera's view and the eyepiece's view are parfocal, but that was a minor inconvenience. The camera worked just as well on a stereo microscope. The included software is easy to use and has a powerful add-on feature that allows you to overlay a series of images captured at different depths of field. This creates a well-focused pattern image with great depth. Very soft! The USB 3 port offers a high frame rate, which is very convenient for focusing the image on the computer screen. The photographic process is a bit cumbersome as the image has to be composed at a low resolution to display the entire field of view and then the display resolution has to be increased for accurate final focusing and for the final photomicrograph. . So a few steps for each image, but the resulting image quality is worth it. Overall, the MU1003 offers very good performance at a very reasonable price.
