I've been using a trackball since the 90's when a design teacher introduced me to the Kensington trackball models. Ideal for large screens and takes up little space on your desk. No batteries and the only moving part is the ball itself. I had one orbit left for about 15 years and only swapped it out because it looked ugly after years of use. The 27-inch displays shrink to a comfortable size that you can navigate with your fingertips with just the slightest effort. I've never had hand cramps when using a trackball. I mainly use design apps like Photoshop and Illustrator and I have more control than with a traditional mouse. Left and right click to add features and customizations. This should outlive your computer with regular cleaning.
