This is the best upgrade I have. I originally had 1 Vengeance 8GB stick (black in a CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10 slot) and 2 Adata (2 x 4GB) and 1 Kingston (1 x 8) filling my slots only to get 24GB. And overclocking didn't bother me as before, all I needed was more memory. I'm aware that it's also not recommended to mix and match memory cards unless you know what you're doing (I'm an IT guy), but I'm aware that these (specific ones) work fine , since I've been playing around with different sticks. So I've been working with this setup for years and it's time to update it. I bought 1 stick of the exact same Vengeance model (CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10) to replace my 1 Kingston so I can try to overclock my memory a bit. When I did that, I removed the Kingston and replaced it. It was all well and good having more memory. but i forgot my adata was only 600 mhz and i wanted to use XMP 800 mhz. Knowing this, I had to remove the Adata memory cards and voila! Finally I tested my xmp profile at 800MHz! I had to sacrifice my 8GB to get xmp speed. Because your computer automatically selects the slower memory as the maximum and my Adata maxed out at 600MHz. There is also one more thing to note. NOTE ITEM MODEL NUMBER! I know Corsair has another version of the Vengeance in blue and another exactly the same, but the model number is CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9! Be sure to pay attention to the model number and exactly the same! You can try mixing it with blue if you'd like, but I can't guarantee it will work. You have to try this as I have never tried it myself. It's risky for you if you try this because if it doesn't work you'll have to deal with returns and whatnot. The same idea applies to CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9 mixed with CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10 as they are similar. You can try, but I haven't tested them yet. So just to be on the safe side. A good rule of thumb is whether you buy a specific model. You update and add stores from the SAME SAME MODELS! I will be getting 2x8 more of the same model CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10 so I can get my 32GB memory pretty soon :) I hope this helps anyone confused with sticking memory to the install why it doesn't work for some people and it works for some.
