Decent, durable carry-on bag

Officially it's called the "convertible duffel bag". The first thing I want to know when purchasing this bag is that it is backpack sized and not a holdall. If you're used to carrying a large travel bag big enough to hold all your clothes, toiletries and entertainment for three days off, this bag just isn't big enough for that. It's just the right size to fit in an airliner's overhead bin and will hold enough clothes and goodies for days when you skip packing. Overall I really like this bag. It has two large outer compartments, two smaller ones and an inner pocket for small items such as fabric breathing masks. If you pack carefully and don't take a lot of extras, you can live without this bag for two to three days, or longer if you bring your travel detergent with you. Heavy canvas is water repellent (but not waterproof) making it durable in a variety of travel conditions. It's a nice little piece of luggage. And it has multiple ways to wear it. If you got to this point in the description, you already know that it has shoulder straps like a backpack, a carrying handle, and a detachable shoulder strap. This means if you're already carrying another piece of luggage (a computer backpack in my case), you have multiple options for how to carry that bag. You will not be burdened by wearing it in any way that may later wear out on your body. All three options are designed to withstand damage from regular handling. I wish the bag was bigger. I was hoping to carry my clothes, workout gear and the books I'm reading in one bag; Instead, I had to make value judgments about what to leave behind. But if you know what to expect, this bag is good luggage for weekend trips, overnight trips and business trips. You can carry it with other bags or alone. And chances are you'll carry everything you need in one bag for quite a while if you make the right choice.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
