These are excellent sponges. I actually use them as menstrual sponges. Most of them are very soft, I think I've had two that I wouldn't necessarily consider soft enough to be used for the specific purpose of menstrual sponges. They contain small bits of sea debris, so I highly recommend you walk over them when they're wet, even if you think you can't see anything, and pull out the excess. I used tweezers to pull out things like pieces of shells etc and it worked fine. Honestly, there's not a lot of stuff in it anymore, but enough to make it worth going through. I then used boiling hot water and some tea tree oil and disinfected them to my standards before using them. It worked well and I had no infections or problems using it for menstrual purposes. There were some fairly large sponges as well as many smaller ones. So a good selection of both is enough for me to be happy with them. I highly recommend them!
