This is the Shimano equivalent of the Avid BB5 caliper, only slightly heavier. The easiest way to adjust this type of brake when one side is engaging and the other is stationary: 1. Screw the caliper tight but leave it slightly loose.2. Place a business card between the rotor and the stationary pad side.3. Adjust the opposite side pad inwards. In this case you need an Allen key, not Torx.4. Tighten the caliper firmly.5. Remove the business card. Your caliper should now not be touching the rotor but should release without much travel at the friction point. Set up from there. You shouldn't have any squeaks after the pads have worn down a bit. Overall it's as good as BB5. If you have a recreational bike this is a good vantage point.
