After starting tretinoin, my face became a raw, red angry mess. I was using what I thought was rich moisturizing cream (La Roche Cicaplast Baume, Oil of Olay Whipped etc.) but these didn't cut it for staving off the irritation of tretinoin, even when the tretinoin was limited to use every few days. I needed something much more deeply hydrating. After pouring over Reddit threads for Tretinoin, I found Vanicream and I'll never go back. My skin is happy, clear and bouncy. There is nothing in this cream that causes irritation or acne. Vanicream is glycerin based so it locks in moisture, but this is also an ingredient that creates a bit of a tacky feeling (only initially until absorbed). Having tried many other, more arguably luxurious moisturizers, please understand that Vanicream does not feel luxurious. Meaning, it doesn't have a silky feel, it doesn't have any nice fragrance, and the packaging isn't pretty. The moisturizer is rich (but in a pasty/spackle like way), somewhat tacky (until dry) and goes on WHITE (initially). While you might think that these are not great attributes (particularly for someone who prefers the fancy stuff), my skin has never been more radiant, young and beautiful looking. Of course I'm sure this is due to combining tretinoin with Vanicream but the proof is in the pudding- the RESULTS you will see will blow your mind and will make you a convert.
