Ordered a year ago today, mainly for DSS2, not for headset. A DSS2 Dolby Surround sound processor is essential if you want the most immersive gaming experience. This is especially true when playing first-person shooters, as directional audio helps you better navigate your surroundings. It's great to hear games the way the developers intended them. There are a few presets to choose from, but I didn't play with them much after the initial setup. I've used DSS2 to listen to everything on my XBOX, including Netflix, but I'm not sure if Dolby Surround Sound is applicable for these applications other than games. The benefit of the DSS2 is that you can plug in whatever headphones you like: I've been using Turtle Beach X12 headphones (really good serious headphones), a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50s and will soon be plugging in a pair of Turtle Beach X32 Wireless I've got right now receive. I've tried the included DXL1s, but to be honest they don't compare as well to other Turtle Beaches or other brands of headphones (I'd sell/give them away and get a better set of cans for use with the DSS2 instead). .DSS2 isn't a problem if you really want to improve your games, and the fact that you can use any headset gives you the ability to further customize your setup.
