I bought it because I doubted its brightness. I can definitely say it's great. For people wondering about its brightness, it puts out about 3000 lux with 1.2 volt EBL batteries (1100 mAh - so they last a long time) and 5000 lux with 1.5 volt AAA batteries. The difference in brightness is not visually perceptible. The non-rechargeable ones will soon drop the voltage down to 1.2V and give out the same brightness. So if you are thinking of buying rechargeable batteries, get a larger capacity battery like 1100mAh so you don't have to replace it too quickly. The one on the right in the picture has 5000 lux (no charging).
