In the dying field of digital audio and video recording, I needed something that could easily and easily record video without a docking station and millions of cables - it does the job very well! was bought on purpose as I didn't know COBY well except as a DVD player. I'm not disappointed yet, although I've only been using it for a few months and have seen other reviews. I've already digitized some of my VHS tapes - one of the main reasons I bought them - you can change the aspect ratio which is great. You cannot change any of the audio recording settings (in video). So if you record VHS or audio that doesn't sound good, it will sound bad in the digital file too. Shows and movies on cable TV and enjoy them on the go or during those boring school holidays. The screen is quite large, bright, photos and videos are excellent. Cons: A little big and clunky, heavy. But since a small DVR and a 40GB hard drive, I expected a light weight. (This won't replace your IPOD, but it's great for those tired of watching movies on 2-4 inch screens!) By the way, apparently all those small audio and video capture devices (straight from the source) out out - maybe out - because of copyright issues, buy them while you can!
