I have an adjustable bed that is not against the wall, so I needed a small side table that can be used at night hold the remote for him, my phone, etc. It's the perfect size and shape to use in front of my dresser that stays back-to-wall. One downside is that it sits on the base with a magnet, so it can get lost on impact. But perfect for what I use it for. And good that you can remove the tray and put it on a chest of drawers or a bed. Another downside is that since it's metal, it makes a little noise when I put certain things on it. But any metal table will do. I just use a small stand or mat to muffle the sound.
