Bought specifically for a trip to Europe and for the most part everything was fine. Lots of pockets and comfortable. However, on the first day of the inspection, the belt material began to detach from the mesh. I was worried it wouldn't last two weeks so I started wearing it underneath which was uncomfortable and bulky. I think what pulled back was just decorative, not something to hold the strap to the bag, but since there was only one strap I didn't want to risk it. I was very disappointed. I'd say it was a piece of crap, but I probably had too much in my bag on the flight there. My suggestion: don't use this if you have a lot of things or heavy stuff. I had an iPad, an iPhone, and an e-reader in my wallet, a digital camera, and a travel blanket, among other items.
