Revised Report. That's when I was using my Samsung Galaxy Tab A and turned it over so the power connector wasn't on my chest and the cable connector kicked up a puff of black smoke. A short circuit has occurred in the cable connector. The cable was automatically unplugged from the tablet. The metal part of the connector remained plugged in, it detached from the plastic housing. I was afraid that the metal part would stick to the tablet connector. But I was able to remove it with great difficulty. The port did not appear to be damaged. Was happy about it. I need a new cable. I can't be sure if the tablet is ok until I see it charging again. The cable has only been in use for a week. If the tablet wasn't being used at the time of the crash and was simply charging, there could have been disaster. Well, if the charging port were damaged, that would be disastrous enough.
