Military Field Training Backpack

Purchased for use in US Army field training which requires the Brown Coyote Multi-Day Backpack. I'm alternating between this backpack, the MOLLE army backpack, and the old Alice backpack. This backpack is capable of carrying all of the gear, food, and clothing I need for at least a week of field training. I can take my sleeping bag, tent, change of uniform, toiletries, basic radio equipment and food with me without any problems. The backpack also gets bigger when the zipper on the back is unzipped. With a rain weather pocket for lining, it's easy to pack and search for, especially as the zip closes fully on both sides, allowing the main compartment to open like a book. The front compartments are convenient for pens, maps, protractors and other small items. I found the zippers, pulls and straps to be strong and well made. The backpack is comfortable for extended wear (including a 12-mile non-stop hike) and breathable enough to prevent prickly heat. That is, unless the bladder compartment on the back of the pack is full of water, causing the back to bulge and come into contact with the user's back. It didn't give me a heat rash - even after wearing it for a week in Fort Bragg in the summer - although it definitely makes carrying the backpack more uncomfortable. However, this is my backpack for long trips.
