I recently bought a new mattress in a 14 inch box. I was looking for a protective cover rather than a tight sheet because I didn't want it to slide or move. So I bought that. I didn't want a terry towel over it, so it's my fault for not reading the description carefully enough. It has a terry cloth top that is nice and soft. But I sleep warm and I feel like it was definitely warm the first few nights but I think I've gotten used to it as I don't notice a difference now. So this obviously fits 15-18 inch mattresses and I would say it is correct as it is large on my mattress and wobbles on the sides/bottom. As far as putting it on the mattress, I had no problems, although I definitely need another person (luckily I had two to help me) if I had to take it off and put it back on to wash it. No zipper problems. And very important: NO NOISE! Absolutely no crunching when moving or throwing and turning is not audible!
