Very hard bristles.
I have ordered cheap makeup brushes before and they are much better than others. However, don't expect them to blend very well or be very gentle on sensitive skin around the eyes. You are very tough. Pros: Only 2 were not fully attached to the handles. They didn't come off but were wavy and needed squeezing to stay in place. (The piece of metal that attaches to the handle.) However, the bristles stayed in place. I had maybe 2 small "hairs" coming out of one of them I think. But they are great for traveling. i love color
