Ideal for the beginner or amateur photographer

This tripod is ideal for the beginner photographer on a budget or the casual photographer. The tripod is solid with mostly metal components and has many of the characteristics of a high-end tripod. Weight isn't an issue, and the compact size makes it easy to take with you. I keep mine in the tripod mount on the side of my backpack in the case that came with it and it fits well, is discreet and doesn't get in the way. A fully extended tripod does not have enough rigidity to support light loads. Wind affects the picture quality. Extending only half of the top solves this problem. The ball head is solid and holds my 70-400mm (heavy lens) well. There are two set screws on the ball head to make it easier to move and fix. The rotation is fairly smooth, but not enough to pan the video. The tripod height flexibility is great. You can use this thing with the camera on the floor by flipping the top up or all the way up to a comfortable height for a 6 foot person. It can be easily adjusted in height with flip locks and is quick to set up. Overall I would say this tripod is a good buy. While the premium features can't compete with other high-end tripods, they are far better than what you can get for the same price or even a little more. The flexibility of this tripod allows it to be used by most camera users at an affordable price. This has enabled me to take some great/clear landscape shots, portraits (indoors and out) and decorative holiday shots.
