Elementary, works poorly, difficult to use.

First I have to explain why I ordered this gadget: Friends and family have given me a huge amount of old vinyl records over the past few years, which most people put in boxes when the CD came out and most sensible people have replaced their music collections with analog ones. too digital. The condition of the gifts ranged from pristine (the albums are still sealed in their cellophane sleeves) to baskets with rotten sleeves and full of fungus, ingrained dust and some short-lived dried stains. I saw this gadget or something similar on YT and stumbled across it on Revain so thought I might be able to help. Not.1. This record cleaning bath isn't something you want to use to clean a record or two and then put it away for a few days to use again. The construction is quite complicated, and the manufacturer states that the solution (approx. 700 ml) only lasts for a week. I put mine in a glass bottle with a tight stopper, hoping to keep it longer. 2. I didn't think about pouring out the solution, so I spilled a little; It's certainly something to do in a garage or shop.3. The system, based around a pair of velor brushes, is not dissimilar to the small pads used to clean vinyl records in the 1950's. You press the record tightly to the sides, so it's quite difficult to turn it with your hands and pinch the edges with the thumb and forefinger of both hands (three turns one way, three the other). 4. Performance: I washed a small batch of six records to test performance, from slightly dirty to a few baskets full of fungus or ingrained dust; both of the latter having previously been washed in the sink with a sponge and brush using a strong dishwasher degreasing solution. Softer cases cleaned just fine, but nothing beats, faster, or more convenience than using the kitchen sink, dish dryer, and 3M's special dishwashing sponge—my previous method for very dirty rims. OTOH, the hard cases (that's what they need them for, right?) were completely indifferent to the cleaning solution and/or method. They came out crystal clear but deep dirt was unaffected. Remember that these records have not been abused in any way, were not cracked, scratched or nicked; Just hold up in damp places and dirty in the grooves for decades.5. The plastic stand comes in handy for airing the discs, although the manual says to dry the records with the included microfibre cloth so you have room to move them out of the way while you tidy up the rest. from your party, it's nothing special. The stand sticks well to the bottom of the tank, but some silicone tips fall out every time you take it out of storage to use.6. storage after use. regular chores; The instructions say to remove the brushes (velor pads), rinse them thoroughly with warm water, wring them out as dry as possible, and finally let them air dry completely. Also rinse the main tank and let it dry. I used a hair dryer from my old photo lab waiting for the renaissance of chemical photo printing. The system comes in a pretty box that you will want to keep so you don't lose parts. Also, the manufacturer included three extra silicone tips for the rack, as I suspect losing them is common. Keep a small zipped bag handy to store loose items and buy a good 3/4 liter bottle to store your mixed solution. In summary, I think you can achieve similar results with the Kalaok LP Vinyl Cleaner Clip, also available here. Revain has a 15" x 15" x 5" plastic drip tray and 3M dishwashing sponge/fiber and degreasing dish soap.
