Review on Induction Cooktop GASLAND IH12BF Electric by Curtis Sherman

Revainrating 1 out of 5

It may be a great induction cooker, but it fails for a number of reasons!

We were among the first to use induction cooktops and over the last 15 to 20 years we have installed several of these in several homes. So we know what an induction cooker and hobs are. This hob is unsuitable in several respects and we do not recommend it. The biggest problem is that it emits a large amount of heat into the cavity under the hob. Ours is mounted above the kitchen drawer and everything inside feels hot when the stove is on. We didn't have this problem with an earlier induction cooker in the same place. The Gasland induction hob also works differently. For example, you splash some water on the hob (e.g. when cooking potatoes) and the hob switches off. If you touch it wrong, it will turn off. It also goes into "Hot Mode" when there is no reason for it and switches back to working mode after 2-3 minutes. It also reduces the power level during cooking when not needed. I thought the unit was defective, but add to all this an indifferent or uninformed customer/tech support telling you everything is fine and the bottom line is there are other possibilities. Look for another brand. Much to my regret as this dual zone hob has a BBQ function that combines both coils into one heating/cooking which would be very handy at times.
