I was skeptical about the cooling technology but it's amazing! You definitely feel a chill, very much like the "other-side-of-the-pillow” feeling. I'm a small size and my dog weighs about 17 pounds, a Chihuahua and Cockapoo mix. I wouldn't say it's non-slip, my dog's paws are definitely slippery but it doesn't bother him. If your dog has joint pain I would be wary but I'd say it's worth a try! The wetness indicator doesn't really work when placed on top. Not directly above either. And it doesn't discolour.
