It is ideal as a diary. I modified mine and added a TSA007 lock for more privacy - the zips on it are perfect for this type of lock. The case offers more than enough space for my gel pen collection and more than enough space for my classic Moleskine magazine. There is enough room for any A5 magazine - you can carry two if you remove the inserts. (What I'm doing right now with a second Lemome magazine - I also tested it and found that you can carry two magazines and still have enough room for one of the two inserts that come with it!) The sides of the case are quite flexible and despite the embedded foam they are not stay in perfect shape. However, it's not bad if you want to flatten it so it can be easily packed in a backpack. It's about the size and shape of a baby lunch box, a little bigger than I needed and was looking for perfect, but overall it's the best option I could find. I can recommend it to other people who are looking for a magazine bag.
