Honest and Unbiased Razor Review

UPDATE: After using this product for a few months I thought I should update my review. I looked at this product last year when upgrading my Fusion. 5 Blades because I'm honestly sick of paying Gillette inflated prices that many of us find disgusting given what you get. I didn't buy at the time due to some 1 star reviews and lack of a small amount of 'samples' to try, they really need to consider offering a trial pack. After purchasing the product and using it for several months, both Gillette and Personna products have a special character with advantages and disadvantages. Each brand has its own merits and I don't see any other reviews mentioning this: shaving is a very personal experience for everyone and we are all wired differently. This is why I am posting this review which I wish I could because I find Personna Blades to be a reliable and cost effective product and I disagree with many of the 1 and 2 star reviews I have read. then.About me: I shave my head more than 50 times a year, shave my mustache daily and trim my beard and beard with an electric trimmer. Cremo Cream is my favorite shaving cream, it's very smooth, non-corrosive and activated by hot water. I have tried most of the popular gels and creams, this particular product is perfect for me, my face and scalp. In my 15 years of shaving my head I've tried more brands of gels, creams, pencils and razors than I can say, from dollar shave to MMA sponsored stuff, from straight razors to safety razors to disposables. . That's what I think. Before going into detail, read this if you read nothing else: If you are familiar enough with kitchen knives to know the difference between an east edge and a west edge, I would equate the difference between a personal edge and a west edge. Gillette cartridges: To me, Personna is like a western-style blade and Gillette is like an eastern-style blade, each with a different metal hardness, thickness, and blade angle. An oriental style blade is great for precision but dulls much more quickly, a western style blade is not as accurate as a samurai but still very efficient and lasts longer. My first Personna cartridge, which was half the price of Gillette's, lasted a full 2 months. In terms of fit, the Personna product snapped tightly into my Fusion grip and held tight. Not afraid to detach or slide down on me. She survived a few days of facial shaving and a head shave without any problems. In terms of functionality, the "convertible" top, seemingly unfamiliar to many Revain reviewers, solves my biggest problem with the Gillette razor: I can easily reach that little part under my nostrils. The transform function allows me to remove the glide strip. Another benefit I didn't mention, the collapsible top also made it a lot easier to remove the accumulated hair in the blade set, which Gillette can't do, which is why Gillette wagons take the strain! I don't like the lube that Personna uses, it's prone to hardening but still outperforms the underperforming flatbar Fusion 5. Maybe it's personal preference but I could live without it. In terms of injuries and trouble, I'm either highly qualified or have the perfect dome, one drama reviewer claimed to have cut his head in several places. I came away with no cuts and only a few small spots I could tell were shaved closer than expected after rinsing underwater. My first shave had a tiny isolated razor burn but that went away after my third head shave. I attribute this to using a new type of cartridge with a slightly different geometry. To be honest I had a similar experience switching to Fusion 5 cartridges until I figured out the best angles of attack for a style of blade. Every razor is different, let's be realistic: you learn as you work, no two razors are exactly the same, it's a dynamic experience. The smoothest, with the least effort in just one pass, Gillette will win in the first 2 weeks. While the Personna wagon shaves with a bit more follicle pull, it also shaves more evenly across the length of the blade surface than my Fusion 5, which is very welcome, and in week 2 Personna seems to have finally picked up steam. that delivers a superior shave similar to the flat razor settings I used years ago. In terms of reach, the Fusion 5 seems to have a "golden spot" in the middle third of the blades where it shaves incredibly close, anything outside of that needs a second pass. I cover a large surface area with Personna because it shaves evenly across the entire width of the blade. I suspect that Personna's follicle twitching could be the result of a thicker blade and higher angle, while Gillette uses a thinner blade and finer angle. In terms of durability, I think the last point is why the Personna blade lasted weeks longer than my Gillette. Car. I get a good 4-6 weeks on a Gillette cartridge, I almost ran out of 10 weeks before switching to Personna and technically there was life in it, I was just being selfish. Maybe if you have thicker hair follicles than me, you produce more hair than me, you shave less than every 5-7 days, or your favorite cream/gel product is harder on the steel than mine. Cremo Cream, you're going to get burned. through your faster. Everyone is different and not all gels and creams are created equal. I've found that more acidic canned gels and foams stress the steel harder and cause the blades to burn through faster, resulting in a worse shave. If the product rusts the can, what do you think it's doing with those thin blades? As a partner, I feel Gillette provides a closer shave, but neither I nor my significant other can tell the difference in how close my shave is. touching your head or face. I want to reiterate that not every head, face or follicle is made equal, your experience may vary. In general, I hate changes in general, but after trying them I wasn't dissatisfied. Think. Finally, I understand that this product is said to be made in the USA by a company that has been in the industry for decades. I wish it used American steel, I've heard it doesn't, but I guess you can't win every battle? The prices would probably be the same or higher than other brands if that were the case. In summary I think this is a solid product from a respected company that delivers an efficient shave that is NOT designed to be the same as the competition. If I had overly sensitive skin I would probably try borrowing a new cartridge from a friend before buying a full box. If this blade works for you, it could save you big bucks on those days when every dollar counts - you get more blades for less money and they last longer, perhaps at the cost of a slightly less elegant shave, and that's a fair compromise for me personally. . So I see no reason to continue using Gillette's overpriced product. At least that's my 2 cents.
