Pay the price! Basilisk Ultimate delivers!

Hello everyone. You can check out the Razer Basilisk Ultimate with cradle here. This baby cost a lot of money, so I'll walk you through some of the features, pros, and cons to see if it lives up to its hefty price tag. The form factor is great. I moved away from the g502 with rather large hands and this mouse seems like an old friend to me. The build is very nice and feels like a solid and durable mouse, despite being noticeably lighter than its g502 counterpart. I replaced the plastic flipper with a button on the clutch side and it's much easier to reach than the g502 clutch. The adjustable scroll wheel is phenomenal and works great with both high and low resistance, although it lacks the infinite scrolling of the g502. RGB is great. This mouse is very nice and you can see in my video what I was able to achieve with a little work in Razer Chroma Studio. The software allows you to customize the lighting for both the mouse and the charging station, it's very intuitive and offers impressive lighting options. Personally, I've found that RGB looks better on a mouse at lower brightness (I found it looked "sharper" and less blurry, especially around the logo). This is ideal because it helps me save battery life. Battery life was a bit of a concern, especially charging time. Then someone recommended me to update the firmware, which Razer Synapse (Razer Product Management Suite) doesn't do automatically. DO THAT. Battery life and charging times have improved significantly. The sensor and response is what you would expect from a nearly $200 mouse. Smoothness in games, easy DPI adjustment, reaction to clicks. However, I had some crashes. They might be forgotten, except I paid a premium price for a mouse and that makes the hiccups a lot less appealing. Sometimes the mouse seems to forget where it is. This happened twice over the weekend and it actually only freezes for a second or two. It's not all he forgets. This could be because I remapped the clutch to a different keybinding, but the clutch button stopped working and had to be cycled to fix it. It also forgot my custom middle click keyboard shortcut and I had to retype it to fix it. I suspect these issues are less mouse related and more related to Razer Synapse. Even though the program doesn't cause any errors in the application, it seems to be the culprit behind these "cute quirks". This also caused the Overwatch game to close on launch until I uninstalled the visualizer app in Synapse. Not so"cute". Synapse is the reason I can't give the mouse 5 stars. I hope they clear the kinks. In general, Basilisk Ultimate still deserves a recommendation, as does its high cost. I'd definitely recommend it over the g502, with or without a cradle; But man, this dock is practical (and pretty, too). Take it!

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • I won't say anything
