Review on πŸ–ΌοΈ BSIMB Digital Picture Frame: IPS Screen, Remote Control, Motion Sensor, Auto Rotate - Perfect for Landscape and Portrait Photos by Lisa Black

Does NOT work with hidden WiFi network.

Update: My frame says I've reached my data limit and need to buy a seat. But I have a massive SD card. I use my cell phone data. Old: So this is probably the coolest photo frame I've ever had. The user interface is based entirely on Android, which is very fun and cool. The quality of the picture and the method of sending photos to the frame is so simple that even my wife can handle it. Big disadvantage: does not work with a hidden network! THE? In my opinion, all networks should be untranslated. My stations haven't been broadcast for about 20 years. Only people who know my network exists can connect by simply clicking the bottom option that says (to paraphrase) "Connect to a hidden or non-broadcast network." You then enter the network name and password and connect. No one can see the network specified as the broadcast name, except for those using the network and who have permission from the owner to be on it. Without a hidden network, you are wide open to hackers. They want simple things. Low-hanging fruits. They like an insecure network. Having a hack password doesn't stop them. By taking the hidden network one step further, I hope to be able to defend myself against a gateway hacker - YES, they exist. Well - unfortunately this product is not compatible with such networks. My phone is compatible, my Echo Dot, TV, Roku, Xbox, Tablet, iPad, Nintendo Switch are all compatible. Every device I have is compatible with the hidden network. You just have to select the option to add a hidden network and once the setup is complete, it will also connect to that hidden network. So here's what I did: I contacted support who said to make it visible because it's incompatible or unable to connect. I did just that, set a WiFi password and lots of pictures came onto my device. I was hoping that after the network was added and saved it would connect to the non-broadcast network. It's not like this. If you have a viewable network with a password this is a fantastic device and I'm very disappointed they don't have that option. I'll speak to my wife, keep looking for Revain and see if I can find a hidden/non-broadcast compatible frame. Well, if they send me a patch for the device, I'll definitely leave it as it is. When connected, the device and its UI are sooooo cool. I really like this frame, that's why I'm writing this review. I'm frustrated that it doesn't have this feature and I won't make my network visible. Never. And certainly not for a picture frame.

Pros
  • DUAL ORIENTATION AND WALL MOUNTING. It can be freestanding or wall mounted. The built-in gravity sensor adjusts images to portrait or landscape for the best fit. For added convenience, a remote control is included so you can control the frame remotely.
Cons
  • I'm mad
