Why is noise cancellation an open headphone rating? Anyway, I'm not sure what's going on with the headphones. Firstly, I'm not sure if I got a refurbished phone or a fake one, but I've looked through other reviews and found that these phones look good while being cheap. I hate cable assembly. Even at that price point, it should have been removable. The sound quality, as soon as I turned on the music, it sounded harsh, distorted, the high frequencies hissed in my ears, it seemed like my ears were getting tired. So I played another song and another, old songs from the 80's and all the songs sounded the same. Now I have to say that they are very detailed, or rather blatantly clear. This makes the music sound bad. I set the iTunes equalizer to Flat and the sound is slightly better. Running this through my dual Apollo interface, which has enough power to push them, I found that turning the volume down to LOW was tiring on the ears, but the music still sounded overloaded. I found a song that sounded decent. How do I know, brother, how to mingle with them? My judgment will be far from comparing the blend of these cans to others. I'm waiting for a quality headphone amp to see if that makes a difference. But not satisfied yet. But the weird thing is I demoed them at the guitar center and they sounded sooo great so I bought them. I thought I had a bad match but reading other reviews almost everyone is saying the same thing. I am lost. And I can't recommend them to anyone.
