I have two more bobble hats at home and both are soft, stretchy and flexible so they won't pinch your head The Size stretches enough for my five and two year olds to carry if they so choose. This hat seems to be knit from too dense cotton that I don't want to stretch. It fits my 2 year old who is almost 3 but not my 5 year old. It feels too hard and she doesn't seem to want to wear it, unlike her other more flexible and stretchy knit hats that she likes to wear. Cotton is also not very soft. I hope washing can loosen or soften the fabric but unfortunately it hasn't changed the hat in any way. It's a really cute hat and I love the huge 3 inches around the pom pom but I'm not impressed with the lack of comfort.
