Review on 🌬️ USB Fan by PCCOOLER, 80mm1 by James Mayberry

Do not buy for reflecting telescopes

Required a USB powered fan for a Dobsonian SLR to cool the optics to ambient temperature. This one failed on several fronts: 1. Loud fan despite fake "silent" advertising. Noise means vibration, and at maximum speed the vibrations became too intrusive to be tied to a high magnification optical system looking at point sources.2. At lower speeds, it triggered an automatic low voltage shutdown on the power supply and only worked for about a minute at a time3. The wiring on the ESC is of poor quality and the solder joints came loose on my first night leaving the wire lying in the grass.4. The ESC has VERY bright LED indicators. Not what I need for an application where maintaining dark adaptation is a must. If you're looking for a telescopic fan that's powered by an external battery, avoid this one. I am currently awaiting a Noctua NF-A8 5V fan which I am fully confident will be the best product for this application.

Pros
  • double ball bearing and iron protection grid
Cons
  • The list is long.
