The original batch is bad. Seller replaced under warranty So far so good with new bulbs

30 months Summary: The first shipment they sent out had a defective bulb: the seller quickly replaced it. Then, over the next 18-24 months, all the light bulbs completely or partially failed. But after I contacted the seller (they asked for a photo) they sent a whole new batch. So far the new ones are working great (about 4 months in use). Read on for the full saga and understanding of its build. The new batch replacing the originals seems brighter and better than the originals I bought 2 years ago. Cardboard box (exchanged) and instructions bad UPDATE 18 months later: Now, 18 months later, more bulbs are dying (both completely dead and only half dead, and all bulbs except one have defective individual LEDs or flashing individual LEDs). Update at the end of the first year: Another bulb is completely dead and the other two are half dead, and many others have multiple dead individual LEDs. I don't recommend as they don't last long. First tip: I had a general contractor license and almost always did my electrical work. There was a good subcontractor who came to review my work, get a permit, and then the city reviewed my work as if it were theirs. I say this to point out that I'm not your typical homeowner/do-it-yourselfer. The instructions that came with the bulbs were pretty bad/poor for the typical homeowner. However, I knew what to do, right down to turning off the power, cutting the wires to the ballast and removing/bypassing it. The instructions were clear to me (since I understand electrical schematics and house wiring) regarding connecting mains voltage to one end of the fixture/bulb and neutral to the other (I also installed other LED bypass fixtures where it was) . to one terminal and N to the other terminal of one end of the lamp/luminaire, leaving the other end dead and without a neutral wire). What the instructions didn't show was that there were small clips hidden in the middle of the wire. a package that had to be attached to the fixture so they would carry the long 8ft lamps near the center of their span. Without brackets, the bulbs will bend and hang down. The wind might have hit them etc. I'm glad I found them at the bottom of the box when I cleaned and threw away the packaging. I ended up pulling out the ladder and removing each bracket to access the mounting cover and install the clips. I had to find and drill 1/8" holes to install the mid-span support clips. I replaced the screws that came with the clips (it was a lot easier to use a rivet than try to hold everything together and to tighten the screw). I had a blown bulb. Instead of just getting a replacement, the system forced me to get a second set of 8 bulbs (sending the blown bulb along with the other 7 as a return). It seemed crazy to just getting a bulb to replace one that lit only 1/2 of its 8ft range out of the box This is a large package that you will need to retrieve and take to the UPS store for return.
