Review on Say Goodbye To Acne With Cover Dot'S 72-Hydrocolloid Dots - Waterproof Patches For Oil And Pimple Absorption by Pat Haberman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Best of the bunch - my new review

I've tried a few comparable patches and - other than being annoying hard to remove from the backing - these are the best. Buying them 72 at a time will give you the best bang for your buck for sure but overall, these patches tend to be pricey no matter who you buy them from and SmartMed is offering one of the better deals and high quality.I've tried the thicker hydraband brand. It's nice those come in different sizes and they are certainly easier to peel off and they stay put nicely but they don't work quite as well. It seems that the thinner Cover-Dot forms a better seal.Overall, here are the pros:- stays put until you peel them off- very thin- better than comparable brands at healing skin- better than cutting a thin sheet of hydrocolloidal material (yes, I've tried that too)- despite small size, manages to absorb a good amount of wound exudate- doesn't stick to skin or injure you when you peel it offHere are the cons:- shipping is oh. so. slow. You might wait 10 or more days. But if it gets lost in the mail, as one of mine did, the company is good about customer service and replacements.- hard to get off the backing. I don't think the dotted line makes sense at all. Why not just use tabs or something?- in your attempts to get it off the backing it can stretch out of shape or fold in on itself and then you've wasted one and they're expensiveAs other reviewers have noted, these are hard to cover with makeup. Other brands are literally impossible to cover with makeup though. If these are in a non obvious spot, like the side of your cheek, the best thing to do is to use a liquid foundation and let it dry. Do NOT try to set with powder - you'll just make the edges of the Cover-Dot more obvious. Instead, just let a layer of foundation dry and then carefully dab on another layer to buildup coverage. That's the best you're going to do and you'll get enough coverage that you'll be the only one that notices the dot is there. If it's on your forehead or something though, don't even bother.

Pros
  • With a pack of 72 dots, you'll have plenty of patches to see you through many months of acne-prone skin, providing a cost-effective solution for those on a budget
Cons
  • The patches may not provide a long-term solution for acne and may require other treatment methods for lasting results
