later ok so let's get started. they are wider than i thought. Take your husband's hand (bigger than the wife's hand) and it touches the sides, but not much. They work well but the size is really for a salad and lots of soup. These are NOT cereal bowls or anything like that. They are very good for (my kids) to put food on the plate. not all dinner, but you know how teenagers are. Using it for cereal would be a bad idea as the width of the bowl forces you to use a lot of milk or a lot of cereal. neither the one nor the other is good. like I said, salads and stuff, yes, it's a bowl.
