Review on πŸ‘Ÿ Premium Salomon Outline Hiking Phantom Magnet Men's Shoes: Lightweight & Ideal for Active Men by Earl Ton

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The design of the shoe doesn't seem to take into account the thickness of the removable insole

This shoe comes with a very thick memory foam insole which can be useful on long backpacking trips. But it is too thick for shorter excursions or everyday sports, which means that medium or thick socks are too tight on the upper of the shoe over the entire length of the foot: from the back of the foot at the arch of the foot to the ball of the foot and in the toe area. Because the shoe is made entirely of man-made materials, there is little to no stretch in the upper. With the thinnest socks I have, the shoes with the insoles are barely comfortable. For medium or thick socks, the insoles should come out. I don't have a particularly high arch and I don't think half a size would help: the lack of space with the insole is mainly vertical and not lengthwise or wide, as if the designers didn't consider the thickness of the insole when designing the shoes. The good thing is that the shoe has enough support and cushioning even without an insole. Apparently these insoles were added after the fact and were not taken into account in the design of the shoe from the beginning. The materials and the workmanship of the shoe appear to be of high quality. Haven't tested them in a storm yet, but it looks like their waterproofing is holding up; The outer seams appear to be sealed very well.
